I actually put a Powercommander on it yesterday. It was really popping on deceleration and felt really lean and hot on top when I was running closer to wide open.
I put the Dynojet map for stock airfilter with lid off and stock pipe with baffle removed. I just richened the top end about 6% and it feels more lively and responsive. Stock, the top end felt kinda lazy, but this has helped that felling.
On the shocks, I haven't been through any rocky stuff yet, but I have been through ruts and tree logs and stumps. It is way smoother than the stock suspension. Elka always says their shocks will increase travel over stock; the new fronts visibly have more travel than the stockers, but the rear looked like they travel about like the stock rears. I would imagine this is to not "over-travel" the CV joints.
The shocks are longer than I expected, btw. The rears are something like 20.5" extended, and the fronts are about 18.5" extended. My longtravel Elka's on my 450r are just 19.5", so I'm impressed with the stock length and travel on this 700xx.
The cornering is also much better with the quad being lowered. I have found that I can "flick" the rear around more now with less "tippyness" than with the stock suspension. It seems more willling to slide the rear rather than push on the front through a corner.
Overall, I 'm exceptionally pleased with the outcome of the Elka's. They made much more difference for the 700xx's handling than previous experience with 400ex's and 450r's with aftermarket suspension. It doesn't make it handle like a solid axle, but it's not supposed to be a solid axle bike. It does make charging through angle ruts and rough stuff that would cross up a solid axle bike an afterthought.
I'll ht some tighter trails today and see how it handles that...
