That sounds about right.  I ride with a gps and got 78 mph.  I just think that is fast enough.  Now the guys with the modified mufflers and programming kits are probably getting a little faster.  I have seen a video of one bike that they say was doing 90.  So as you can see it is just a matter of uncorking.

Have fun and ride safe.

Do you need to go any faster than 77 MPH?

A guy on ATVRIDERS.COM said he hit just over 80 using GPS but I really dont know what to believe.  I'd say stock the beast should do around 70 mph, 77mph is definitely more believable and absolutely flying.  ATVRIDERS.COM's test on it didn't give a top speed but they said its one of the fastesst top speed quads they've ever ridden, its right up there with the artic cat 1000 ;D

Mine is all stock and still on the first tank of gas. We took it out on the paved road by out house with a tom tom gps unit strapped to the gas tank and a 150 lb rider it hit a speed of 85 with a quarter inch of throttle left.

yeah i got scared when i rode one for the first time too, but alota vids that i see they hold it to the top of every gear this slows it down and make the front lift up wich makes u let off the gas even more. thats the way to shift a 450 but with a bb u gota shif at the power band like 65%-75% though each gear just like a raptor even in reveiw races against the raptor is see happening to the xx, they drive the rappy right but the drive the xx wrong. this prooves that there full of it.

I got 86mph at full throttle with 1/2 tank of gas. I weigh 155lbs and speed was recorded with a police radar gun and a gps on the bike. Both had matching numbers. This is a stock bike, still has exhaust insert and air box lid with foam filter. Maybe the measurements are wrong, but I raced a guy on a Raptor who claimed 90mph. From my eyes, and about 5 other people I was 2 bike lengths behind with my stock bike.

cool... So 90+mph is well within reach with simple parts (tuner, intake, exhaust, +1 sprocket) sure beats my bosses yfz that has gobs of money in it and a head that took me FOREVER to port. He hit 102 with the same gun that clocked mine.

To hit 88 you would need at least the Big3 including a header. I ran mine down a highway before the build with the Big3 and never hit the limiter. After I built the motor we hit the limiter on the dyno and it showed 88mph. TWe kept getting interferrence with the tach so I'm not sure if we hit the rev limiter or if the speed sensor actually cut us out.  I wouldn't recommend a taller sprocket either unless it's a dedicated desert racing bike.

Damn. Only 88mph? lol. Any way of getting more out of the thing? Im in florida so desert is wayyy out of the question, but I spend most of my time drag racing and flying down the trails.
