word to the wise
« on: January 17, 2009, 10:12:58 AM »
how many actually do a once over berfore they ride ? well i picked mine up wednesday night and test drove it thursday night out on the property and noticed that the front tires were wobbling a little and thought it might be the tires so i didn't think anything of it. friday morning when i woke up i went out to chek the pressure on the front tires because they felt really spongey and notice that the wheels where they seat against the hub had a 1/8 inch gap on two of the lug nuts and the other two were flush with the hub, on both front wheels. so i took it back to the dealership and showed them and had them do a complete once over on it. come to find out they had left the spacer washers on the two lugs from the plates on the shipping crate, so word to the wise do a once over on it before you do anything else , you never know who might have put it together out of the crate, normally it is probably someone that has no clue as to what they are doing.

i know in alot of these dealerships they hire kids for cheap labor and they end up putting the bikes together, i worked at a bike shop when i was in high school and put bikes together. i know it should be done a certain way but it's not a perfect world....lol

Thanks for the heads up. I have read many horror stories about dealerships putting bikes/quads together and over looking a small detail resulting in really big problems. I do a full check off before each ride. I recommend everyone else do the same.

My front has a slight wobble, any pics of this? Does it cause a hard wobble or just noticeable.

the two washers are to be removed and discarded they are there to keep the crate from rubbing the hub

Thanks go to you guys!! My wifes front tire wobbled since I bought it last week..just thought it was a faulty rim or tire and was going to notify the dealership...but after reading your posts and the pictures, I took the tire off and found two washers still on the machine. Took them off and she works great....you guys saved me a headache and some yelling at a dealership.. :)  Thanks again..

Bill :)

I just bought my 700xx lightly used and found that my machine also had assembly issues, two washers were NOT taken off before front wheels were installed, and front wheels were wobbling!

Thanks to this info thread I found out right away!
