I'm trying to stay calm! I've been waiting and chomping at the bit for what, 6 months waiting for this machine to get here and then I hear this crap about the XX not being all we had hoped. But NOBODY really knows yet except fot the guys that have ridden them. I didn't mean to scare anybody away from the XX, I just wanted to share the concerns that I had about what was being said. I never expected the XX to be a world beeater, I jsut want it to be an AWESOME trail quad. Hopefully it isn't as off in the gearing as what was said. I have to be able to lug a machine down and then HAMMER it as I'm twisting thru the woods!!

I am exactly the same as you xx-rated.  I need the exact type of quad you are talking about.  It says it is a trail quad and it better be a trail quad.. no excuse for bogging down.  And if it does Honda better provide some sort of Sprocket update to fix the issue.  What did your source say about the suspension?  The thing I heard from the district Honda Rep was that Honda was very pleased and excited with its performance as they were testing them against the other Competitors.

I also agree with the maintenance issue on the Outlaw 525..it is a race motor and they need allot of maintenance.  And there has been issues with all of the bearings and bushings wearing out fast and also the cheap hardware that holds them together...you know the normal Polaris thing.  I sold my Sportsman 800 to get back into the Sport riding as that is how I ended up riding the Sportsman anyways.  So I know of the Polaris factor..  But with that said I would still get another Sportsman 800 if I were to get back into the 4x4 thing again in the future.

Lets hope your source is wrong. :)

Thank you for the way you put it.  I am a avid Honda fan.  I have a 06 350 Rancher, fine bike but.  I have a 07 420 Rancher.  Best all round bike I have ever rode.  Just awesome in all situations.  When I bought it last April it was fresh off the block for Honda.  No reviews, or anything and it turned out to be the best sport/utility quad I have seen and rode.  Now This April I am getting the 700xx, I suspect it to be a strong quad, with fuel injection I can only say that my 420 with fuel injection is awesome.  Now couple that to a 686cc engine I can only suspect a strong pull.  Sure maybe not a two cycle banshee but a strong pull for a four stroker.  As far as gearing we'll just have to wait to see.  I am sure that with Honda's quality the 700XX will be a great all round quad.  If you plan on racing it well you'll be adding performance items anyway.  With a msrp of 7899, add what you want and you'll still be dollars ahead of the competition.
Thanks

I have read that Polaris has remedied the bearings and bushings issue. I have asked around about KTM engines, and most claim that they aren't much different than any Japanese engine. I have heard heard that you need to adjust the valves more often. I think I adjusted them ONCE on my 03' Raptor, not that I shouldn't have done it more often! But I agree, the Outlaw just doesn't look like it will hold together like the XX will. I am going by my dealer on Thursday to see if the XX is in. If so, I'll let everyone know what I see! Of course the Honda rep is going to say nothing but positive things about the machine. I hope THEY are right, and not what I have heard. I suppose we'll hear soon, as someone should have their hands on one within a few days!! AS far as the suspension, all that was said was that it "wasn't impressive". Basically what was said was that no one seemed blown away by the machine. Keep in mind that this is what he had been told, not his own impression. Maybe the bikes were tested in the wrong environment by the wrong type of riders, I don't know. Like I said, we'll all find out soon.

Well I got back from the Dealer Today and found out that the Ship Date got pushed to the 28th of April.  That is Good and bad news.  For the Bad I now have to wate a few more weeks...For the good...Maybe this means they are working on a few issues with it before they send it out...Maybe.

xx-rated have you heard the same push out from your dealer??

One dealer said they were expecting it any day..but this guy was really green and I don't think he knew his ass from a hole in the ground. The other dealer said that they were expecting it sometime this month, but neither mentioned a delay in the release date. If that is the case, I wonder what is going on?

Why do you think that there was a delay, or was there one? Everyone was saying they would ship April 1. Guess it was a joke after all!

Now my dealer is saying April 11th. I don't know if that is a ship date of a delivery date though.

Looks like yours got pushed out 10 days.  Mine was suppose to be the 11th then got changed to the 18th and nor set for the 28th.  That should be ship date.  They said that it takes about 3-days to get in by truck.

They could be changing a couple of things on it????  If you heard that it is bogged down to much for trail riding then they could be swapping out sprockets to fix this issue.

I guess we will see.

I would doubt that they are changing anything at this point, but who knows. I guess no one really knows if anything needed to be changed other than the guys that have tested them. I bet ATV Rider will have a review feature on it in this moths issue, which should be out really soon.

Good find Bob, I've been searching far and wide for some kind of review, I just checked that site late last week. More should be following soon! Not a whole lot to that review, but at least we have something now!

Noticed this first ride review, not sure if everyone has seen it.

It's a start. But that review doesn't say much....
