First Ride!!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 25, 2008, 07:39:11 PM »
I Got to ride it today. I want to hear everyones first ride impressions.
Its definately got balls for a stock bike. Im going to dyno it and then tear it down so we can boost it.
Its low end is not bad. but for the trails it still needs a 15 dolllar front sprocket. Sweet bike though. Impressively smooth. Im liking it!!!!!!!!!!

How hard is it to get to the front sproket being that it has that centered drive? You don't think that it is trail rideable like it is? How does it handle? How would you compare it to the Outlaw?

Why do you want to hear everyone's first ride impression? What's your's? It's got balls? Compared to what? A Cub Cadet?
What's it compared to? You've got an Outlaw for sale, so....that would be a start.... Where's the pics? C'mon this is 700xx.net, You would be the first on this site to ride it, and you didn't take one pic?
Where'd you ride it? Trail? Dunes? Up and down the street?

Ok, I got mine yesterday. ;D First ride impressions? Very cool! Now it was just a short and mellow break in ride, but it does seem to have plenty of power. The ride is not Rincon smooth, but better then a 400 EX. I have raced/owned alot of quads, mostly hondas so I can gauge it fairly well. I did notice that it likes to push a lil in the turns. May just have to get used to it. At 42, and with some extra baggage, I'm hoping this will keep me riding the sport quads for a while. The weight is not noticable while riding and let me say that this is no utility quad with out racks! It is a sport quad and will let you know that when you start riding it! So far it's a big thumbs up!

Thanks for giving us something!! Do you think the pushing in the corners is just the IRS in action? How bad is it? Is it geared high? How is the low and midrange? I'll have mine next week...FINALLY!

Yes, the pushing is from the IRS. Forget about turning as we know it. It is no 450R!Haha. If you give it gas in the turn it makes it worse because it lightens the front end. I think it can be overcome with some seat time though. As far as low to midrange goes, it feels fine. Remember this was a mild break in ride. I should know more tonight. ;)

Hey glad you got your new ride...Where are you located?
How'd the dealer treat ya? As far as OTD price goes.
What's it look like as far as changing the front sprocket? How's the low-end?
Is the front bumper really plastic?
Sorry for all the questions, but NE Ohio won't see one for at least a week, maybe two.

I bought mine Saturday, sight unseen! I've only seen one at a trade show in Seattle in December. I still have not even sat on one, but I still bought it! Kinda dumb, but my mind was made up. It is supposed to be delivered to me on Tuesday or Wednesday. I probably wont get to ride it until Friday night though.
ATVX4 - Is the front end too light? It seems on the videos and from your response that the front end comes up awfully easily. A light front end is good on the trail, but you don't want it to be too light! Does it stall esily at low speeds like the early reviews stated?  Have you ridden it on the trails yet? If so, how did she handle?
Sorry, a lot of questions, but no one has shared anything yet other than you!

What color did you get? How about putting some pics of that bad-boy up when you get it!  ;)
Like I said on ATV Connection, I'm still not sold on the idea if I want to shell out the cash (actually credit LOL) for one yet... I'm gonna wait till I hear a few more ride reports.

I got the black/silver combo...I just don't like that red seat on the red/black. I got NO deal on mine. I talked to 3 different dealers, they all stood hard at list price. I did get my salesman to at least throw in a new helmet. Honda has 3.9% financing right now, that's pretty good. I will take some pics and put them up, hopefully before I ride it next weekend, while it is still a "virgin". They just never look the same after you go get em' muddy, especially black quads.

Congrats to everyone on their purchases. This will be a monster of a machine, especially once the mods start coming out. I will be trying to get one of these in the summer.

I can't get a pic to post. Says that the pic is to large. Can I fix this? Also, Let me just say that I love this quad so far. I would not say that the front is light xx rated, it's just that the rear likes to stay planted. I  had a 450R, and you cannot ride it like that in the turns. It seems that if you go in to the turn a little hot and grab some brake to plant the front wheels it works ok. Goota be easy on the gas in the turn till you straighten out. I got the blk/silver and it looks great with blk/silver powermadd hand gaurds.

Hello Sorry for not answering. I had a quick trip to make. Ive been trying to load some closeup pics for changing the sprocket. Its not too bad to do though. I took the 700xx out with my buddy on his 450R Just riding through fresh plowed fields. This is an awesome way to test suspension! This thing is amazing at the rough stuff. It does have a bit of a push though. Ive been playing with the suspension and it seems to help. I love the bike though. The stock sprocket is not to bad but for the really tight and twisty you will want to change it. Thats what i meant in my earlier post.

How bad is it in the tight and twisty stuff? Is it just a little too high geared? Can you lug it down without stalling it? Some of the early reviews said that it stalled fairly easily. I hope that isn't the case. Mine should be in tomorrow or wednesday!
