700xx motor

I have heard numerous people saying the motor on the 700xx is an XR650 motor modded to quad specs, does anyone know if this is true?

The motor sure does look like an XR650. Honda says the 700xx will have the highest power output in its class!  :)

Isn't the xr motor air cooled? I can't see them using an "old" engine in this flagship type quad. It may be similar as in bore and stroke maybe (I'm not sure though) but I would guess that would be it..

Nope, the XR650 is water cooled.

The transmission or final drive assembly looks to be divorced from the engine which moves the chain drive to the centerline of the rear axle.  If this is not the trans, maybe this engine could be transplanted into the 450R chassis.

Many sources, including a magazine, have told me they are using the xr650 motor...

everyone is saying the engine is based off of the xr650 but Honda is saying its a completely new motor...

Nope, the XR650 is water cooled.

Correction, The xr650L is air cooled
                   The Xr650R is liquid cooled

I would deffinetly want to see how they made their fuel injection system, because i want to retrofit it :o to my 650L

The trx700xx is a dry sump motor. There is an external tank. See picture below
