Shock Length
« on: June 23, 2008, 08:08:12 PM »
Can someone please measure the length of the stock shocks eye to eye.

I have a few ideas on what I want to mod but I dont have one to measure up right now. I've had really good results mod'ing stock shocks before.

Thanks

Linc

I don't understand how you can post something like this on a forum for a quad that has been out a few months. There is a very small amount of people with the 700xx and even a smaller number of those people have found this forum.  :-\

No, I do not have a 700xx yet, I am planning to get one but I will have to sell off some toys before I pick one up.

Why would I set the home link on the forum to take you to the site home page? That doesn't make sense.

If you're on the forum page and you want to go back to the "home" page to look at the pics then how do you get there? why would the link go to the forum page if the button is on the forum page?.

Anyway.......I've been checking up on some suspension mods rather than just spending $$$$$$ on new shocks all round. I've done it before with awesome results at a resonable price.

The fronts seem doomed to the bin as they don't even seem worth the effort of modding. The springs may come in handy though......I'm thinking some stock TRX450 or LTR450 fronts.

Rears are another thing though. They are obviously made by the same manufacturer as the front shocks on the TRX450 and they look to have the similar fittings. No rebound (huge bummer); but pre-load and compression is there. A quality shock thats worth being optioned-up and sorted out.

If you get these puppies rebuit it is possible to adjust your rebound, get an extra 1~1.5inces of travel and get hi-lo speed compression. All of these parts are off the shelf from one company or another. HyGear http://www.hygearsuspension.com/honda450R.html sell most of the parts you would need to do this but TCS, Stadium and a few others would be able to source the parts too.

The issue of what exact parts would work starts with measuring shock length eye to eye.

thanks

Sorry Admin....... Even though Oz seamed to come accross a little rude...... He is correct about the Home page Button.  Just about anytime you have a Home button on a Website it means Home....as in the main index page.   :)

I understand where you are coming from but this is the forum section of the site, you don't usually jump around from the forum to the main site. I will create a separate link to take you to the site home page if you would like.

18" Center to Center on the 700xx.  Also the LTR450 Suzuki Shocks are too short and the Top mounting on the Suzuki shocks are too fat.  I just tried my buddies this last Friday.  I have heard that the 450R's are the same.  I will find out in a few weeks as some friends of mine should have plenty spare ones because they swap theirs out with MOTOWOZ shocks for Racing.

On my TRX700XX is 16  1/2 in. center to center on the TRX450R in 16 in. the 450 will work on the 700 and give you more adj. they are a much better. I don't know why the didn't put them on the 700.
